GET FIT FIERCE, AND FEEL FABULOUS DOING IT!
It is a pleasure to introduce my friend and creator of the Fit Fierce and Fabulous Platform- Podcast, Courtney Bentley. I met Courtney about 2 years ago when I found her online and bought a fitness plan from her. I was so impressed by how dedicated she was to make sure that I completed the plan to attain the best results. I felt very positive about my progress mainly because Courtney was so encouraging! I lost a few pounds and I gained an awesome friend who inspires me very much!
A recovered self-hater, Courtney ultimately learned to love herself through movement. The Fit Fierce and Fabulous platform and podcast has inspired thousands of women to practice self-love while reaching for and achieving big goals! Courtney is a recurring contributor to CBS 8 Las Vegas NOW, and has appeared on Leading Las Vegas. She holds certifications as a Personal Trainer and Behavioral Change Specialist with the National Academy of Sports Medicine and Sports Nutrition through Precision Nutrition.
Courtney let us in on how she dealt with her biggest challenges when she first started out and what advice she has for aspiring entrepreneurs. Keep reading!
Q: What did you want to be when you were younger?
A: When I was younger I wanted to be a DJ, I have always been fascinated with sound and love music! Music has taken me through some tough times so I always thought that I would take people through tough times with mixes that were upbeat and fun!
Q: At what point in your life did you know you wanted to start your own business?
A: I have had my own business since I was 7 years old. I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur and have been creating opportunities for myself since then!
Q: What was the biggest challenge you faced when first starting out?
A: There is always a learning curve in any type of business you start. Many people get frustrated but I ask questions. Sometimes we can let the ego get in the way and not ask which has happened to me several times! Ask questions from those who have been there, get a mentor or a coach!
Q: What are you most proud of in your professional career?
A: I am most proud of my podcast Fit Fierce and Fabulous. I had no idea that starting a podcast would open me up to discover more about myself, allow me to share my story and my truth with others and help to inspire other women who feel stuck and alone. Creating content for the podcast and talking to women who tune in has been the biggest blessing.
Q: What is your morning ritual to ensure you start your day on the right foot?
A: I start every single day with a meditation, hot water with lemon, and a peak at my goals. Staying grounded and in the zone is key to facing your day to day challenges. I wake up at 5 or 5:30 AM to ensure I get my “me time” and to make sure I take care of myself before I hop on coaching calls!
Q: What does being an entrepreneur mean to you?
A: Entrepreneurship means serving others and solving problems.
Q: What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?
A: Focus on solving problems, connect to a tribe and get yourself a mentor or a coach. The biggest challenges with being an entrepreneur is not having support and being focused too much on what you want to do. Having a passion is key but make sure what you are doing is actually solving problems for people. Support also makes life so much easier, I spent the first 6 years of my business alone without a mentor and I now know I could have escaped a lot of problems if I had someone in my corner. I have to say hiring my first coach was tough but the amount I accomplished in that year versus the 6 years before was monumental!
Q: What is your word for 2018, and what does it mean to you?
A: Aligned! Alignment is key! I spent so many years trying to fit into a mold that wasn’t my destiny. This year I am all about showing up in my truth, being authentic with who I am and not worrying about what other people are doing.
Q: Who inspires you (past or present)?
A: I am inspired by my mom and grandmother who raised me to be a fit, fierce and fabulous woman! My grandma was always very active growing up and my mom always made sure I had what I needed no matter what. As an adult I now look back and am so appreciative for all that they did for me despite having my father and grandfather pass away at such a young age.
Q: How do you want to inspire others?
A: I want to inspire creative female entrepreneurs to be authentic, share their story and how to connect with themselves to expand their business. When you focus on your self-love and take care of yourself, you can show up for others at an entirely different level.
